Soanya's View
I know we've been sending a lot of sunset pictures lately and here is yet another one, but hey, who doesn't like a spectacular sunset. The sun is one of our main forms of entertainment here on the schooner as well as a weather indicator and it can put on quite a show. As we approached the equator from the north, we noticed the sunsets becoming more pastel in nature. The colors were so subtle and luminescent that the camera wouldn't do the light pinks and powdered blues justice. Now as we move away from the equator they are becoming quite dramatic. I suppose it has something to do with the curve of the earth. Yesterday, Reid and I sat and stared for almost an hour at the blue sky changing to light orange then deepened into florescent pink red which transformed into a fiery red orange that seemed to get more and more intense until it slowly faded from the sky giving way to stars patched with soft white clouds in the distance. The ocean was vast and calmly rippling under this majestic dome. We stood on the schooner, a tiny floating thing, amidst a peaceful eternal celestial splendor.
