Official investigative report by US Coast Guard documents the collision incident between SchoonerAnne and Maersk Dunedin (5 of 30 pages).  This was aquired via Freedom of information act after US Coast Guard completed it's investigation.

This report shows that on 05 May 2007 while underway in the Atlantic Ocean, the Schooner Anne and the Maersk Dunedin collided at sea. The collision occurred at position 37d34.1m N 054d21.5m W.  The Schooner Anne hit the port quarter of the Maersk Dunedin with her bow.

Note the "Statement of Fact" provided by the Master of MAERSK DUNEDIN, which the US Coast Guard obtained at Savannah, GA on arrival on 31 May 2007. Note the image of the MAERSK DUNEDIN port quarter documenting the scratch mark where the Schooner Anne bowsprit hit and then bent up as the freighter moved past.

This collision destroyed the SchoonerAnne bowsprit and disabled the boat for several months as Reid made repairs as shown on www.1000days.net. Various individuals provided alternate theories of the bowsprit damage which were based on mean spirited guess work, general negativity and are completely incorrect.  This US Coast Guard report validates the account as stated by Reid.
