Thirty days is the most-searched date interval on the internet, and for good reason. Net-30 invoices. 30-day notices. Free trials. Whole30. When somebody says "a month," they almost never mean a calendar month — they mean thirty days, regardless of which month you're standing in.
Thirty days is the smallest interval that feels like a real chapter. It's long enough to change something — eating habits, sleep schedules, a routine. It's short enough to count down. And almost every contract, lease, and payment system in the modern world runs on it because it splits the difference between "soon" and "eventually."
The number predates the modern calendar. Ancient Egyptian, Babylonian, and early Roman calendars all used 30-day months. The Gregorian calendar inherited that convention even after the actual lunar month was understood to be 29.53 days.
30 days is the legal minimum notice for most month-to-month residential leases in the US, and the standard floor for resigning a non-senior job.
